Local Music Radio And Where To Listen

Local radio is inherently tied to the community it serves. The stations often act as a meeting point for musicians, promoters, and fans to connect and discover one another. Local radio can also help preserve and promote regional and cultural musical traditions that might otherwise be lost in the globalized, mainstream music industry. By supporting local stations, listeners help ensure that these unique sounds and traditions continue to be passed down and appreciated by future generations. Today we’re introducing you to four radio DJ’s and their stations so you can tune into the music in your community.

Hometown Heroes with DJ Mark Rogers

One of the longest running local music radio programs, Hometown Heroes on Delaware Public Media (DPM) hosted by Mark Rogers is an undeniable staple in the Delaware music scene. For over 20 years, Rogers’ has hand-selected an eclectic mix of music from around the tri-state area to play, brings on musical guests for interviews and performances, and announces big concerts and shows in the area. He even hosts an award show, The Homey Awards, every year, helping local musicians become recognized by their peers. The show airs Sunday nights from 7pm to 9pm on 91.1 WDDE in Dover, DE and 88.1 WMHS in Wilmington. Plus, there's a rebroadcast Wednesday nights at 9pm on Delaware Public Media. There are two weekly rebroadcasts on WCHE 1520AM and 95.3FM. You can stream it live at delawarepublic.org.
