Bandcamp Friday Round Up;  July 2024

(Clockwise: Wasted Arrows, All Hail Y.T., Anthony Danza, The Honey Badgers, Dan & Joe, Russell Que, and Flat)

Summer is in full swing and we’ve got another round up of cool new music from the local music scene. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates the earnings made on that day to waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it. Stop by and spread a little local love and support if you enjoy it.

If you’re a musician who wants to be featured in The Gable Verse, send your Bandcamp links here.

Wasted Arrows

Wilmington-based alt country band Wasted Arrows’ new single “There’s A Ghost” has all the makings of a haunting classic. Pedal steel guitar, ghost stories, and spring-chilling howling recorded by Mike Bardzik at Noisy Little Critter Studio in Downingtown, PA. Visit their bandcamp to hear their latest music and purchase some Wasted Arrows merch.

All Hail Y.T. x Anthony Danza

Delaware-based rappers All Hail Y.T. and Anthony Danza have teamed up to collaborate on 12-song album All Hail Danza. This album is dripping with nostalgia featuring 80’s samples of synths, smooth jazz, and Booney James-like saxophone. Visit their stacked Bandcamp online store to stream their music, buy a shirt, and pick up All Hail Danza on vinyl.

The Honey Badgers

Newark-based folk duo The Honey Badgers are rejuvenated in their latest release “Rose of Jericho”, the 4th release to their full length album The Earth Turns and So Do We released on June 21. This song swells and envelops you in a wall of sound until it bursts forth with a symphony of vocal gymnasts, horns, and orchestral percussion. Drawing inspiration from the plant the song is named after, this unfurls into a beautiful harmonic creation.  Check out their music and see them performing live opening for Ollabelle at Arden Gild Hall on August 2. Dan & Joe

Brother duo and Wilmington-based rock n’ roll band Dan & Joe have been booked and busy playing around the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware, including West Philly Porch Fest and Iconz. Check out their elevated garage rock EP Pig Pilot EP on their bandcamp and check out their show back at Iconz in Wilmington on July 13.

Russell ¿Que?

Newark based rapper Russell ¿Que? released a live recorded album of their March 2024 performance at Spring Jam. Titled after the annually held event by Gingerfox Productions at Rainbow Records in Newark, DE, these tracks include a booming full band, some special stage banter from Russell, and a heart warming feature from his son. The album was mixed and recorded by Myke Glessner who also plays drums in the band.

Flat

Wilmington alt-rock band Flat recently released their self-titled three song EP on June 10. Melancholy vocals are perfectly placed within the crunchy garage band guitars, droney synth sounds, and rock n’ roll drumming. Check out their latest release on their Bandcamp and follow them online to see where they’ll be playing next.
