New Bands On The Block
In such a small state you would think it would be easy to find the ‘who’s who’ in music. Unfortunately, that never seems to be the case in the Small Wonder. Luckily we’ve rolled up our sleeves, sorted through the hashtags and found some amazing music makers you might have seen at your local music hangout.
Gnarcat blends gainey guitar tones, psychedelic vocals, and rock-n-roll drums in their latest single Oil/ HW, out on Rosemary Tone Records. Based in Newark, Delaware, this two piece guitar and drum duo is light on band members but heavy on sound.
Parson Hex is the rollercoaster, pastel, caffeine-fueled brainchild of Wilmington local Cameron Damude. Their latest, self released album, Likewise, has twelve energetic electronic tracks filled with beeps, boops, and synths to scratch any instrumental music lover's brain cells.
Bright Corners is comfortable to settle into with their four piece set up and three piece harmonies. Including some of the best musicians in the area, this super band has an expert sound. Dan White leads with his vocals and southern guitar stylings. Chris Radbill fills in the sweet spots on rhythm guitar, while Trinka Dorsey on bass and backing vocals and Barret May on drums lock in for a superb rhythm section.
Mosaic The Animated is a rapper-producer in Delaware who’s musical expression is obviously rooted in hip-hop but ranges in genre and influence in their latest self released beat tape Free Samples, released in January 2022. This 21 track album is filled with samples, electronic experimental sounds, and often dark moods.
