This year and next will be challenging for the arts world. Funding is challenging to obtain, production costs are high. And yet, the need to bring music forward in this world continues to be of paramount importance. Our creation of a new event series, Ladybug Micro Music Fests, to help continue to bring music to all (free) is something I am particularly proud of. We as a business continue to innovate solutions while keeping on our mission to bring communities together, while addressing the issue of inequalities for women in the music industry.

For me, a top musical moment was having three internationally-based women-fronted bands submit and be selected to perform at the Wilmington Ladybug Music Festival. All three were completely different, and completely amazing in their own musical genres. It makes me proud to know that the hard work and effort we put into our Delaware-born festival has reached overseas markets and puts the First State on the global music map! Check out these three groups: The Screaming Orphans, Laura Bourgeois, and Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold

My favorite musical moment of 2024 was the release of my dear friend and co-creator Samuel Nobles’ piano album  “How Sweet You Are”. Not only is this one of the most relaxing and stress-reducing collections of music I’ve ever heard, it's incredibly inspiring. To hear what Sammy can do with just a piano made me want to explore more instrumental music. I hope one day this album is released to vinyl.

Listen to “How Sweet You Are” and read what I wrote about him earlier this year, here

My favorite moment from 2024 is the circle pit and human pyramid that happened during Catbite's Wilmington Ladybug Music Festival performance. The energy from the set was amazing, everyone was dancing and grooving. Their set visibly connected so well with the audience that night, it was truly memorable musical moment that embodied the raw excitement of live performance.
