Song Review: Keeping Hope Alive in latest single by Nic Snow featuring Young Seda, Jeffrey Attakorah and Friends

Nic Snow

In 2018, Delaware-based R&b pop singer and dynamite performer, Nic Snow, gathered some of his music friends for an all-star ensemble to create his latest single “Holding On”. It’s a feel good song kicking the year off with themes touching on resilience and hope during dark times.

The song opens with a high pitched chipmunk voice singing ‘holding on, I keep holding on, holding on to love’ and bright synth sounds giving us good vibes right from the gate. Wilmington rapper and storyteller Young Seda is first up, weaving a story of a youngster growing up too quickly. The chase for money and independence leads him into hardship as Nic Snow comes into the story, singing what the character's mother would be saying to keep spirits high in such troubled times.

“I’ll keep holding

Life’s unfolding, I’ll never give up

Chasing moments

We’ll remember

I’ll fill up my cup”

-Nic Snow

Frontman of neo-blues band, The Blues Reincarnation Project, Jeffery Attakorah’s signature guitar licks are playfully sprinkled throughout the song. Attakorah is leading us into a better tomorrow as clapping ensues and we’re transported to the front pew as a gospel choir takes us to heaven and back. Other incredible features on the track include Jess Ivey, Shannon Snow, Obihayve, Eriah Love, Andrew Barrett, and Adanna.
